Students in the Marcus Institute develop at their own pace and need different levels of support throughout their time at Juilliard. Out impressive student/teacher ratio – there are more than 30 faculty members for the less than 70 students enrolled in our programs – enables us to respond to the individual needs of each student. In addition to taking classes in the core curriculum, our students can request coachings every week with difference faulty members to work individually on whatever areas the students feel they need to address, including musical interpretation, language and diction, movement, dramatic skills, auditions preparation, and other skills. This emphasis on individual work with our faculty is a hallmark of the program; through this process, our students take an active role in their own education.

Students in all of our programs participate in various performance opportunities including:

  • Opera productions (fully staged or in concert)
  • Opera scenes programs (with orchestra or piano)
  • Alice Tully Hall performances with Historical Performance period instruments
  • Master class and residencies with guest faculty and renowned artists, composers, and conductors
  • Vocal Arts Honors Recital
  • NYFOS @ Juilliard concert
  • Liederabends
  • Wednesdays at One recitals in Alice Tully Hall
  • Graduation recitals
  • Third-Year recitals
  • Second-Year Songbook recital
