Juilliard offers two preparatory education programs for music students ages 8 to 18 that meet on Saturdays: Juilliard Pre-College for advanced musicians and the Music Advancement Program (MAP) for students at an intermediate or advanced beginner level.
The Juilliard School has an ongoing commitment to the principles and practices of inclusiveness and strongly encourages applications from students of diverse backgrounds.
The Juilliard Pre-College Division offers a comprehensive conservatory-style music program for advanced students of elementary through high-school age who exhibit the talent, potential, and ambition to pursue serious music study at the college level. Pre-College students work with world-class faculty to develop technical proficiency while fostering creativity and intellectual curiosity. Members of Pre-College faculty are distinguished artist-teachers, many of whom are on the Juilliard college faculty.
Music Advancement Program
For more than 25 years, Juilliard's Music Advancement Program (MAP) has served as an essential bridge to higher levels of artistic and personal development for hundreds of young intermediate music students. MAP actively seeks students from New York City's five boroughs and the tristate area with great musical potential who may not otherwise have access to higher level music training programs. MAP's comprehensive curriculum includes private lessons; participation in small and large ensembles and chamber music groups; ear training and music theory; and chorus.
